New Year Message 2019

The Centenary Year celebration of the Maha Samadhi of Shri Shirdi Sai Baba is over. Most of the trusts, associations, societies and groups carrying on with the propagation of the noble thoughts and deeds of Shri Sai performed a number of religious and philanthropic activities not only in India but in other countries as well. Such activities are too numerous to be listed. An internet search reveals websites that are replete with such information. As has been observed, devotees everywhere expressed immense satisfaction in undertaking pious and humanitarian activities in the name of Baba during the Centenary Year.

The global Sai movement does not end with the end of the Centenary celebrations. It is and will be a continuous process for the future with the same resolve. Building of character, tolerance of all sorts of human differentiation, sharing one’s happiness and prosperity with others in terms of humanitarian activities and building of a cohesive and healthy society are the basic norms of the benevolent social conduct that Shri Sai Baba stood for. It would be proper for the various trusts and groups to review their year-long activities in this light in order to update and expand the movement in the future.

With such resolve in mind let us look ahead towards the year 2019. In order to achieve the larger goals in life what is needed is belief in oneself, belief in the goodness of other human beings and faith in the Guru and God. Prayers are meant not only to appease the deities but also to develop virtue in oneself and to build the capacity – both mental and physical - in order to be able to help others. Let us pray to Shri Shirdi Sai Baba to help us to evolve in the path shown by Him.
