Early Life

 Dr. Chandra Bhanu Satpathy, son of late Shri Gokula Chandra Satpathy and Smt. Harsha Mayee Satpathy was born in the year 1948, in the city of Cuttack, Odisha. His father, an academician, was the first Indian Registrar of Utkal University (1944-1949). Later, he joined the Education Department of the Govt. of Odisha and retired as the Director of Public Instructions (D.P.I.) schools and Chairman, Board of Secondary Education of the State. He was a scholar in English, Odia, and Sanskrit and was a recipient of Odia Sahitya Academy Awards for Literary Criticism.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

As a child, Dr. Satpathy did well in academics and was a diligent and conscientious student. Apart from academics, he had an avid interest in literature, music, sports and the occult sciences which continue to be integral parts of his life. 

 

He started writing short stories (satire) about the then progressive society in his young age, which used to be published in the famous literary journal of Odisha. Some of these stories were translated to Hindi language and published in the weekly Saptahik Hindustan.

 

After completing his matriculation, Dr. C.B. Satpathy joined the prestigious Ravenshaw College in Cuttack and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science (Hons.) in 1968. Subsequently, he completed his Master’s Degree in Political Science from Ramjas College, Delhi University in 1970. He wrote extensively throughout his academic years, and his works were published in leading Odia magazines and College magazines.

 

Dr. Satpathy‘s short stories on humor and satire have been published in three books, the later one titled as “Eka Dashakara Ramya Rachana“ was published in the year 2009. These books have been well appreciated by many established writers in India, encouraging him to continue with his passion for writing.
