Shri Guru Bhagwat (Shri Guru Bhagwat Day) Celebrated at Bhubaneswar, Odisha

Kartik Purnima also happens to be the 'Janma Tithi' of Shri Guru Bhagwat (Shri Guru Bhagwat Day),
On this auspicious day in 2001, the first four lines of Shri Guru Bhagwat were penned by Dr. Chandra Bhanu Satpathy ji. People around the world joined in for the celebration of 'Shri Guru Bhagwat Day'.

In Bhubaneswar, the Shri Guru Bhagwat Trust is organized the 'Shri Guru Bhagwat Utsav' at Ravindra Mandap.

Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati lauded the spiritual treatise Shri Guru Bhagwat as a “permanent beacon of light in the realm of spiritual literature” while gracing the Shri Guru Bhagwat Utsav as chief guest on 5th November.

The celebration featured a profound lecture by Dr. Chandra Bhanu Satpathy on Sri Guru Bhagavatam, alongside an address by Professor Hare Krishna Satpathy as an honored guest.

The utsav commenced with a welcome note by Shri Satyabrat Sahu, Additional Chief Secretary for Home, Forest, Environment & Climate Change, and was marked by the release of Volume II of the text.

In his remarks, the Governor extolled the visionary author, Dr. Chandra Bhanu Satpathy, describing him as a vessel of gratitude whose compassionate service—blending knowledge with action and spirituality with service—has inspired seekers across the globe.

He observed that the Odia-composed scripture “embodies a rare harmony between devotion and knowledge,” transcending barriers of language, faith, and geography. He characterized the monumental work not merely as a compilation of verses, but as a “living vibration of spiritual awakening—a bridge uniting knowledge with reality and the seeker with the divine.”

According to the Governor, the text represents a “movement of consciousness” that guides humanity toward compassion, truth, and inner illumination. The celebration, he emphasized, honors both a literary masterpiece and a guiding vision for the heart and the light of wisdom.

Shri Guru Bhagwat delves into profound themes such as the mysteries of creation, the science of death, the law of karma, and the eternal grace of the Guru. It reaffirms the sanctity of essential relationships—teacher and disciple, parent and child, humanity and nature—while upholding timeless values of humility, compassion, service, and family harmony.

Drawing a parallel with Odisha’s ongoing Bali Yatra festival, which commemorates ancient maritime journeys, the Governor reflected that Shri Guru Bhagwat “inspires us to embark on an inner voyage—from ignorance to knowledge, from ego to compassion, from self to Self.”

To mark the occasion, an audio-visual presentation on Bali Yatra—also known as Boita Bandana, which commemorates the region’s rich maritime heritage and the voyages of ancient traders, the 'Sadhabas', to distant lands like Bali, Sumatra, and Java—will be released.

The vision, concept, storyline, and lyrics of this musical creation have been conceived by Dr. Chandra Bhanu Satpathy ji, who has also provided the music direction for the project.
