The Odia film “Shri Jagannath Nka Nabakalebara” had its set premiere in Bhubaneswar on 4th July 2025, where Dr. Chandra Bhanu Satpathy ceremonially marked the occasion by cutting a cake, joined by the film's cast, crew, and members of the media.

This film offers a heartfelt dramatization of the emotional and logistical intricacies surrounding the sacred Nabakalebara ritual, as witnessed through the lives of temple sevayats, pilgrims, and local artisans. Rooted in the spiritual belief that Lord Jagannath assumes a renewed divine form, the movie also sheds light on lesser-known facets of Odisha’s rich historical legacy.

The team has devoted nearly three years of unwavering effort to bring this poignant story to the screen, blending devotion, tradition, and cinematic artistry in a seamless tapestry. The scholarly contributions of Dr. Chandra Bhanu Satpathy Ji, particularly his extensive research on the culture of Shri Jagannath, have deeply enriched the film’s creative process. For over thirty years, Dr. Satpathy Ji has played a pivotal role in elevating the global awareness of Jagannath culture and traditions. His extraordinary journey stands as a testament to his lifelong commitment to safeguarding and sharing India's profound cultural heritage.

It is directed and produced by Bini Samal, with co-production by Dilip Kumar Jena. It features star cast including Siddhant Mohapatra, Suryamayee, Jyoti, Shivani, Shritam Das, Anshuman, Pinky Pradhan, Kuna Tripathy, Ashrumochan Mohanty, Pratibha Panda, Ravi Mishra, Kedar Mishra, Ratan Meher, Saheb Singh, Shankar, Priyanka Sahoo, Rishi Pattnaik, and Shambhunath Khuntia.

Dr. Satpathy Ji has penned the lyrics and composed the music for two of the film’s featured songs.
